Who we are
An importer, a shop, and a fairly specific opinion about Italian wine.
Above Wines imports indigenous Italian wines — the grapes that never traveled, from the families who never stopped growing them. We sell them out of Grappolo Wine Shop in Irving, to restaurants across DFW, and to anyone in Texas who wants a case delivered.
Our 10 family-owned partner wineries are in 6 regions: Puglia, Campania, Calabria, Toscana, Abruzzo, Piemonte. We buy from other growers besides, so the shelf itself carries 9. Every wine passes an enological analysis and then a sensory evaluation of how truly it represents its terroir before it is approved for the portfolio.
Above Wines was founded by winemaker Aldo Bove, who grew up in Angri, near Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast and holds a degree in Enology and Viticulture. He moved to the U.S. in 2017. His family’s crest, from the House of Bove in Ravello, is our logo.
