The short version
We collect the information we need to sell you wine, run your account, and operate the shop — and not much else. We do not sell your data. We do not use it to train AI models. This policy covers abovewines.com, Grappolo Wine Shop, our wine club, and our wholesale portal.
What we collect
When you place an order: your name, contact details, shipping address, and payment confirmation (card numbers are handled by our payment processor; we never store them). When you create an account: your login email and order history. When you join the wine club: your membership tier, preferences, and shipment history. When you browse: standard analytics — pages viewed, device type, and general region — collected in aggregate to understand how the site is used.
Why we collect it
To fulfill and deliver orders, manage club shipments, provide wholesale accounts with invoices and order history, comply with Texas alcohol regulations that require us to know where wine is going, and improve the shop based on what people actually browse and buy. We send marketing email only to people who asked for it, and every message includes a working unsubscribe link.
Cookies
We use a small number of first-party cookies: a session cookie so your cart and sign-in persist, and an age-acknowledgment cookie (aw_age_ok) that records that you confirmed you are 21 or older, so we do not ask you on every page. Our analytics are aggregate and are not used to build advertising profiles of individual visitors. You can clear cookies at any time in your browser; the site will simply ask you to confirm your age again.
What we never do
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We do not share it with third parties for their own marketing. We do not use your personal data to train AI or machine-learning models. We share data only with the vendors who make the business run — payment processing, shipping carriers, email delivery — and only what each one needs.
Retention and your choices
We keep order records as long as Texas alcohol-sales record-keeping rules require, and account data for as long as your account is active. You can ask us to show you the personal information we hold about you, correct it, or delete what we are not legally required to keep. Email info@abovewines.com and we will handle it.
